Aisleyne on BBC Radio 1Xtra

13 February 2011

Aisleyne once again hit the airwaves of national radio on Sunday February 13th when she was the special guest on BBC Radio 1Xtra of Ace & Vis, 1Xtra's resident "troublemakers".

She gave an extended interview which, with just a few musical intervals, took up most of the last hour of their three-hour programme, which was a pre-Valentines Day special.

A feature of this show is that the guest has to provide the hosts with Sunday dinner, and Aisleyne's choice of Caribbean food really hit the spot for the boys as they tucked into roti, hardfood, jerk chicken and rice and peas. She even brought along a Valentines dessert of heart-shaped doughnuts! "Mummy Ash is in the studio", she said.

In return Aisleyne received a Valentine chocolate rose, which she said she would treasure forever in her fridge, to be brought out every Valentines day when she hasn't got a date!

Aisleyne dressed casually for the occasion (and the weather!) hair swept back except for a long fringe, and dressed (apart from a grey sweater) mostly in black - leather jacket, long scarf, jeans and boots.

The interview covered a lot of subjects, some of it re-treading old ground (Big Brother, Mike Tyson etc), but also talking about with her book (and why she had written it), glamour modelling (and why she has given it up) and her new career as a film actress. They played some sound-clips from "Anuvahood", and Aisleyne described the film amd her part in it, and she also mentioned her upcoming role in "London Town". Aisleyne finally revealed that she had no tattoos, and the only one she might consider would be of her parents "on my Achilles heel, because they are my weakness".

Towards the end of a fascinating interview, proceedings were interrupted by an unexpected visit by rapper Chipmunk.

If you want to hear the interview in full (which of course you do) it's available in the Videos section.
