A pic from Aisleyne's calendar is on the front page of today's issue of the Daily Sport. Inside the paper, there are even more pics from the calendar on the centre spread, accompanied by a nice bit of blurb about the calendar and Club4Climate. There's also a discount code to get £1 off to be used at the following URL...

http://www.globalcalendars.co.uk/aisleyne

We won't post the discount code here, as we want you to buy the paper!

EDITED 19/11/07: As now definitely in the paper.

Great news :-) Anyone care to guess how many people read the Sport?

After accessing Goog... er... my extensive general knowledge, I'd guess 100,000.

More seriously, while we can get as sniffy as we like about the Sport, commercially this must be a demographic bullseye.

Perfect piece of target marketing I reckon.

Now where did I put those joke glasses with falsenose/beard attached....?

Well done. I of course could not be bothered to search. I like a nice big figure with lots of O's, as I suspect do many Sport readers ;-)

Sold and then eyeballed. This figure may well increase on Monday.

There must be a lot of workplaces etc where it's seen by many more people than just the buyer.

Discount CODE eh? I was wondering where on the computer you had to stuff the coupon to get the discount.

Ofni's Guerrilla Marketing Bulletin No 1.

Operation Spicy Sport

Now here's what to do on Monday.

Objective: To get the Daily Star in front of as many potential calendar buyers (PCB's) of Aisleyne's calendar as possible.

1. Decide where you could leave a Daily Sport where it would be at least seen and preferably read by the maximum number of PCB's over the next few days. PCB's will generally be, well, LADS - (of all ages! ) You now know how many to buy.

2. Buy the requisite number of Daily Sports, but ideally ONE AT A TIME from as many shops as necessary. This is clearly more of a challenge to the courage and reputation of some than of others.

3. ON EACH OCCASION - when you pick up your copy, "accidently" pick up another one. But NOT to buy it, put the extra one back, but "inadvertently" put it back ON TOP OF THE DAILY STAR, which is usually next to it. Thereby, there will be TWO front pages visible to all redtop buyers. they might not buy the Sport but there is now a good chance that they are now aware that Aisleyne has a 2008 calendar - they are now a prospect. Someone might buy a Sport by accident - Tough Tippex, mate!

4. Even if you don't feel you can be seen to be buying a Daily Sport in that particular shop, you can still do the Sport/Star Shuffle - just try to look distracted or absent-minded or hungover - whatever - it IS Monday morning after all!

5. Read, mark learn and inwardly digest the relevant parts (you know who ) of said worthy journal (esp the discount code). When you are ready, it's time to move on to the next stage, distribution.

6. BUT FIRST - one small but important matter. For anyone who only gets a brief look at the front page without the special buying instructions inside, it's important they at least get a chance to see www.aisleyne.com so they can investigate further. Hopefully a pic of the calendar itself will be on the front page, showing the URL, but this may not be so, or may not be prominent. WRITE www.aisleyne.com PROMINENTLY somewhere on the front page. I hesitate to say it, but put it somewhere near to where the eye is bound to be drawn to (surely I don't have to spell it out do I? )

7. Finally, place the paper in that workplace, club, pub, waiting room, cybercafe etc etc where the PCBs, ie "the lads" will see it, read it, discuss it and generally do the whole viral marketing thang. Preferably on Monday, but if there's a better placement on Tuesday or Wednesday, that'll do nicely.

8. JOB DONE AND DUSTED. Congratulations you are a guerrilla marketeer.

Guerilla marketing? Not the greatest idea, as do monkeys even use calendars?

Chanelle is also looking for the PCBs, who seem strangely lacking in these pics.

I suspect the potential calendar buyers have changed the Chanelle to something more interesting...

Crikey! That centre spread is extremely, erm, "commercial" innit?

Very commercial indeed!

No wonder the Sport gave Ash a 10/10 babe rating.

As it's from a calendar, shouldn't that be 12/12?

Well, the score would be y/y where y is any bloomin' number you like, decimal, hexadecimal or octal!
