I've been watching some live streaming from last night and I have to say I'm feeling more sympathetic towards Charley at the moment. I really disliked her to start but she seemed genuinely upset that she's been upsetting people and was asking people to tell her what they didn't like about her so that she could try to change it. Shabnam was very much in the line of "who cares what those air-heads think" (which just reinforces my dislike of Shabnam) but Charley seemed to be really upset and willing to work at it.

Of course there's always the little nagging voice saying she's just doing it so she won't get nominated and so she knows what to work on to win over the public but it looked pretty genuine to me

Well, it's not like she's become my favourite housemate or anything. I'm impressed that she's willing to change and, apparently, she's been doing pretty well over the last day or so - making a real effort to be nicer to people.

Still, you really shouldn't need to be told to be respectful of other people's feelings. It should be natural.

I would say that she is no longer my least favourite housemate but I wouldn't be upset if she got nominated

I thought it summed it up the other day when Charley heard about the crowds chanting her name she said "Why me of all people?"

Says it all really

Not you as well Rachel. You're as bad as that shower on DS comparing that apparently bitchy, gobby Charley to our lovely Aisleyne.

I suppose Ash did react to hearing the chanting. It was your beloved Miss Adams Short who I remember saying in the Diary Room that she didn't understand why "they choose to boo me".

Unless it's gone downhill just recently, boldjohn, I thought that Charley/Aisleyne thread was generally going quite well (apart from the fallacy in the OP), with most people (even some non-fans of Ash) dismissing any resemblance. That thread does show once again that Aisleyne is firmly established as one of the all-time big characters in the BB pantheon.

Back on topic, I suspect that if pushed into a tight corner, Aisleyne could out-Charley Charley in a VERY big way indeed. But unlike Ash, Charley seems utterly devoid of charm; smarm maybe, but definitely zero charm.

I read the opening few posts at work today ofni. I recall a few comments about about Aisleyne acting black and Charley being black - all very sad. I'm glad to hear the cavalry came to the rescue.

In all honestly I've warmed to Charley more than I have Chanelle. Neither are particularly likeable people but I feel that with Charley what you see is what you get. She and Shabnam spoke a lot of sense the other night - they seem to have scheming, manipulative Chanelle sussed. It is only a matter of time before Chanelle's facade disappears because I truly believe she is being the most false and insincere at the moment.

I have never understood why people think "what you see is what you get" makes someone a good person. It all depends on what you see!

I see very little good about Charley and a lot of good in Chanelle.

No don't get me wrong - I'm not condoning Charley's behaviour and I am sick to death of people justifying their aggressive, confrontational, nasty behaviour with excuses like "I'm saying it how it is" and "I call a spade a spade" and "I'm just being upfront."

My point is Chanelle is being portrayed as very sweet and innocent but having watched her on live feed I find her very false indeed. She is slipping under the radar because of Charley.

I've watched her on live feed as well. I've seen acts of kindness and consideration and respect for the older housemates. I've laughed at her humour in the diary room, I've heard self-deprecation and humility and a lot of sense. She's not arrogant like Shabnam and Charley, she's not confrontational, she's not depressing or bossy like Nikki, she's not unsympathetic like Tracey or mean-spirited and judgemental like Laura. She is, in fact, pretty much the embodiment of everything Ziggy said he looked for in a girl so I really don't understand the need for cynicism here. Why wouldn't it be real affection?

Opinion about her motives is just speculation. There was enough of that last year over Aisleyne. I always say you should judge people on what they do - not on why you think they do it...

I haven't seen anything false about Chanelle either.
Yes she made sure Ziggy noticed her at the begining, but she seems like a lovely girl to me.

Umm... Grace and Mikey are getting married and Saskia and Max bought a house together and lived with each other for a year before breaking up (without ever trying to capitalize on the relationship in the magazines)

Not really a good recommendation on your gut feelings there

Still, you're an Aisleyne fan so I guess your gut must be right sometimes

I wasn't referring to Chanelle's relationship with Ziggy as such. I was making reference to her character. Grace, Adele and Saskia all started well but turned out to be bad eggs!

I have to say though, I've completely gone off Charley following banana-gate. I can't wait to see the back of her.

Yes, the crowds chanted "Aisleyne Out" pretty much every week following the house next door eviction right up until the final. Which just goes to show that housemates should know better than to pay any attention to the crowds. They don't always speak for the public at large

You missed the best part of the series Rachel. Aisleyne was awsome when you were away.

I'm afraid I don't know too much about this Charley character except that she's an IT girl. She can't be much of an IT girl if I've never heard of her.

BB6 was the most frustrating BB of them all. It was full of the most selfish, arrogant manipulative people who everyone thought were wonderful while the kind hearted, unbitchy, fun-loving people were slated. I spent hours watching the live feed in which Makosi's cronies spent every second being nasty and cruel while Team Saskia spent all their time enjoying the experience.

Everyone who met Saskia after the show from Dermot to Russell Brand to Vanessa Phelps and now Aisleyne ended up coming to the conclusion she was actually a lovely girl. Of course I already knew that

I think she and Ais would really get on. She's also a little ghetto princess imo. She is loud and often flies off but I don't think she means any harm. She is just very insecure. There are far less genuine characters in there this year.

I like Charley. She speaks her mind and what you see is what you get with her.

I do think that she uses her aggression as a barrier and that the reason she's involved in so many arguments is because she's not comfortable hanging around/living with that many girls.

I'm sure there is a softer side to her. I just wish we could see it at one point.

In a funny sort of a way I can't help but think of Charley as some kind of "incarnation" of the hardnut ghetto-girl image Aisleyne was trying to project in her infamous audition tape.

The main fascination of BB7 was seeing that image disintegrate as the real, wonderful Aisleyne emerged before our eyes.

Now I'm NOT suggesting that Charley is anything like our Ash in any way, but it would be interesting to see if BB8 could be the chance for the "real" Charley to emerge in similar fashion, and maybe learn to "know herself".

I see a lot of Ais in Charley. All her endearing qualities, but Charley's anger and mouth have failed her even if she is a strong woman. Shame she is the only outrageous character this year. A very disappointing year altogether.

One of the few reasons to watch BB this year will be the inevitable eviction of Charley. Very little else holds any great anticipation. Presumably they are going to open up the house next door again, but they'd better make it a much more imaginitive twist than normal. In fact why not just lock Charley up there alone, with no contact allowed and no mirrors

Charley can annoy me but is it any wander bb want to save her? she is their main source of entertainment.
I disagree with the daily star that its a plot to save charley for two reasons. One is, everyone gets another week. its not like the ash-hnd scenario, where whoever was moved into the hnd got immunity the following week (as they wouldn't be in the house to be nominated). Another is, charley would lay into the housemates in her eviction interview. The housemates will see this making her a certainty to be nominated the following week.

Thanks for that maringo god that really winds me up where they say because charley is a black woman its basically OK for her to use the n word how is it ? thats being discriminating to anyone who isnt black if black people find this word offensive then maybe it would be wise for them to stop using it in the songs and rap cr@p that they put out there !
Either everyone stops using it or everyone whites and blacks should be able to use it without living in fear of being wrongfully branded a racist .

Every time I think I can glimpse a hint of humanity in Charley, and I think
"there has to be a decent person buried in there, somewhere? ",
she goes and says something which just confirms that she is a nasty piece of work, through and through!

I found Aisleyne's blog quite touching today when she referred to her own "journey" in BB7 and expressed a hope that Charley could manage to do something similar. I fear that time's running out on her though - she's already had six weeks to get to "know herself" and she's not made much progress so far.

I really don't think they engineered it to save Charley at all. They had to have booked Thaila in advance and they could reasonably have assumed that Charley would have been out of there long ago.

In any case, it wouldn't matter who was nominated this week as, whoever got nominated, Charley wouldn't have been going (or anyone else for that matter).

Every one just gets an extra week and there's no reason to think people will vote any differently next week. Particularly if Charley is the one fake-evicted and the housemates get to hear what Charley has to say about them

I can't quite make up my mind if she really thought that the public loved her or if she's just doing it to wind up the housemates. She was talking about billboards with her face on and people cheering her and slapping her hands as she walked past. She mentioned bad comments and slogans but was convinced they were part of the 'fakeness'

She even said she had heard them chanting get someone out but refused to say who. Either she misheard them and thought they were saying Chanelle or she's playing a very clever game. Now that they think she's popular they may be afraid to put her up in case they find themselves up against her or make the public dislike them by nominating someone the public likes.

Next week's nominations could be very interesting

Either Charley is exceptionally Machevellian or highly deluded regarding public opinion about her. Either way, the manner in which she fabricated that aspect of her fake eviction to her housemates was delicious to watch!

For the first time in Big Brother history I'm supporting (secretly at times hehe) the villain. I want Charely to stay as long as possible. I'm not sure whether that indicates I'm getting sadistic in my old age or suggests that the alternative housemates are so dire that I feel the show would crumble without Charley - the latter I think.

Charley is a pussycat compared to most of the baddies from previous years. There are a lot of things I don't like but there is a good side to her too. That's why it's taken this long for her to be up for nomination because a lot of housemates are conflicted about her. They forgive the bad side for the sake of the good.

Having said that, while I might vote to save Charley if she was up against Tracey or Nicky I don't think I'd save her against anyone else. I've never voted on the basis of entertainment value as I think it sends the wrong message. I think if you do wrong you shouldn't be rewarded for it, however entertaining it might be.

Tracey and Charley was a foregone conclusion as soon as Nikki left. In fact, given that Nikki leaving was also a foregone conclusion I had already predicted this week's nominations from the moment I heard about Nikki and Gerry being up last week

I guessed 16 out of the 20 nominations this week and I'm betting it will be Carole vs Tracey next week

Do you get the feeling I'm taking this way too seriously

Regards

Julian

It's the prospect of wall-to-wall Charley in the tabloids and gossrags that depresses me. Not that I have to read them, which I won't, it's just the thought of a person like that getting so much money for being so appalling.

Let's at least hope that the Star on Sunday will give Aisleyne some decent coverage as an antidote to all the Charleymania.

It looks pretty certain that Charley will be out in 3 hours time...

Maybe she'll be out even earlier if they're adding some new housemates.

Depends on what the new housemates are like. They might all be worse than her.

Not really watching it this year - only watched it last year because of Ash. Himself watches it, though, so I can hear it. All it seems to consist of is Charley yelling abuse at everyone and Chanelle throwing hissy fits Boring!

Apparently she gave so much away at the press conference that none of the papers wanted her story. According to the Guardian:

Too much information
Big Brother's Charley Uchea made a name for herself with her loud mouth and bolshie attitude, so when she was booted out of the show on Friday she must have expected to make a fair old packet from the Sunday tabloids for her tales. But unfortunately for Uchea, her mouth was just a little too loud at the post-eviction press conference and she gave the tabs everything they needed there. When it came to a potential buy-up, the News of the World, Sunday Mirror and Daily Star Sunday all refused to hand over cash for her story. It was rumoured before her eviction that her exclusive tale could go for as much as £100,000. But after she was turned down by the Sunday red-tops it fell to the Daily Star to scoop her up - for just £25,000. Her new agent Jonathan Shalit - who signed her up on Friday - will be hoping to make more from magazine deals. But if he has one piece of advice for his new client, it might be to know when to keep your mouth shut.

I don't belieeeeeeve it!

Those masters of postmodern irony at Celebdaq Towers have excelled themselves in the 'Daq Diary this week. I guess the Silly Season has started with Saturday's entry:

Charley Uchea's 22nd birthday party
Embassy London, London W1
Celebrities around the country will be flocking to this sw***y party in honour of our latest media phenomenon. Being serious, it'll be intriguing to see how many C-listers turn up to the already-forgotten Big Brother bruiser's bash.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/celebdaq/daq_diary/

Is Aisleyne invited and if so will she accept, I ask, (uncertain of what answer I want to hear) ?

NB The software on here seems to see expletives in perfectly good (if perhaps slightly archaic) BBC English

It seems that Charley and Danielle exchanged four-letter pleasantries at the Embassy club Saturday night.

You can also vote for who's the prettiest betwwen Charley, Danielle and Chanelle, if you're so minded.
