This was in the editorial of Reveal magazine this week

"...the best news is we've recruited last year's lovely runner-up Aisleyne to be our fab Big Brother commentator. She'll be writing a daily Big Brother column on our website - so look out for it every lunchtime...on www.revealblog.co.uk."

http://www.revealblog.co.uk/bbblog.ASP

I always thought Aisleyne's thoughts on the other housemates were spot on last year based on her diary room musings. I can't wait to see if we're on the same wavelength again this time round :D

What a great find julian.
I've put it in my favourites already

Ash will be great at this, as you say. She has a real insight into people's personalities and motives.

And what a gorgeous new picture of Ash to illustrate the page.
Can't wait for BB to start now.

Great news. Ash was the most perceptive housemate ever to appear on BB.
I wasn't looking forward to BB8, but am now.
Can't wait to read what she thinks of the new lot.

"Exclusive", eh? Sounds like a really big gig for Aisleyne. Well done Ash!

Wonder if the More mag column will continue? No reason why not as they're both EMAP mags and the topics are different.

And isn't Grace supposed to be doing a BB8 column somewhere? This could get interesting.

Thanks for bringing us that one Julian - excellent.

Hate to be a pedant ofni, but Reveal is published by ACP-Natmag, not EMAP, as far as I know. Closer and More are both EMAP. Two different publishers who are both giving Ash plenty of exposure. Got to be good news

Scoop away Julian! The more members we have who drop these nuggets into the forum, the happier I shall be, and I know the rest of the staff will be too. And of course the less chance there is of us all missing something. This one's a humdinger though, innit?

It is kind of funny, though, as over on the celebdaq thread we're celebrating that Aisleyne has had the BB link dropped from her celebdaq name, and here she is up to her beautiful swan-like in BB8!

Not a pedantic point at all, shm, it's an important matter of fact, and I am happy to stand corrected. I thought I'd seen cross-advertising on the More website, but it must have been Closer. I've never been the same since Drebin deserted me. (hey, shm, did you poach him?)

You could well be right Julian, but "deeb's proviso" would seem to be borne out by Aisleyne's appearance on Sky News today, where I gather she did manage to mention that she'll be watching quite a lot of BB8 because she has to write about it!

I've also been thinking it's kind of piquant that after Grace Dent's support for Aisleyne in her BB7 blog, now Aisleyne also has a weekday blog in a national magazine. I think they'll be very different though, and I'm expecting them to complement rather than compete with each other. AND they were both on the same Screenwipe programme!

Nice punchy start, Aisleyne!

Definitely agree with the "bland bimbos" comment, though many of us thought something like that of Aisleyne at first impression - and how soon did we realise how wrong we were! I couldn't help thinking at first that the twins and Emily were some kind of watered down Aisleyne wannabe clones, but I'm sure that feeling will pass - it's like clutching at any straw to see AISLEYNE in there again, I guess.

Don't worry, Ash, I can't see any of these girls stealing your place in the Daily Star on anything but a temporary basis. No doubt Google has been taking a bashing though to find some suitable pics for the next few front pages, Nuts covers etc etc.

Lots of "bland", but there's only ONE BLONDE!! Ashaleeeeen!!

" Wacky Shabnam was already trying to create a mini gang with Emily and Charley because she said they would all look good in a girl band together. Watch out girl. It's a dangerous game forming groups this early on."

Yeah , well said Ash , those 3 seem a bit fond of themselves.

Nicky seems nice , what do the rest of you think ? early days of course , you can't really tell until about a week into it.

Ah, - not keen on Shabs and Charley ...

Here's a post of mine from a couple of hours before Ash's blog.

Now the controversial bit:

Take care with Lesley - she's admitted that she likes to get her own way. I think she's learnt a few tricks to achieve that. She's probably one of those Macky .. Machi ... err, manipulative types.

Lesley said: "The production team said I could have the single bed in the corner."

Ash should have picked up on that one (?). Why wouldn't the production team inform the whole group of a special exception like that? Everyone else had to negotiate for their beds. There are other reasons why I'm wary about Lesley but they don't amount to such simple explanation.

Laura is special.

Of all the HMs, I think Laura has the most similar spirit that Ash has. I might not support Laura with vigour but I think I'll be inclined to defend her or her supporters, if necessary.

Still liking Nicky (like some of you, I think.)

You can read my next blog on ...

... oh, I don't blog. Just me that doesn't, then.

I did read your post before mine, Odm, but I see it in a different light now.

Yes, I think she must have meant to write Carole - I can agree with her that Carole is great - I'm just not committing to say that she's my favourite, yet.

Well picked up.

I started off quite liking Lesley although it was pretty clear she was out of her depth in there. I've come to the conclusion she is not a people person. I wouldn't say she is Machiavellian but she's been caught in a few lies and selfish acts which has put me off her.

I aree with Aisleyne when it comes to Charley and Shabnam. They are probably my least favourite in there at the moment.

He is,nt an ordinary member of the public. He was in the Boy Band Northern Line. Theres loads of info about him SHM..hes had a few stabs at the fame game...I think they are all ' specially picked' really and none of them are just ordinary average joe off the street. I think you're right there. This obvious filtering out of the 'average joes' could be the death of BB. People will see it as a cynical exercise in launching 'careers', or reviving failed ones.

I heard Charley say on the highlights show she was at the same PFA Party where Ash broke her hand. Small world, obviously

A daily blog is a bit difficult this early on. Opinions can change at a moment's notice. You form one opinion then watch the next highlight show or some live streaming and change your mind completely.

I think Aisleyne's wrong about Chanelle. I don't think she's at all manipulative. Chanelle had to borrow clothes for bed because they'd packed everything in their suitcases just before he came in. On diary room uncut she was even complaining to BB that all she had to wear was a thong because everything else was in the suitcase.

I watched her 'date' with Ziggy on live streaming and they definitely get on but she's certainly not going in for the kill. He told her he was really attracted to her and her first reaction was to call him stupid

I think Ziggy proved early on that he's not at all shallow. Even without the dating task he went out of his way not to play favourites and I think he's genuinely fond of Carole and Laura who are not exactly 'lookers'

I do agree about Nicky and Shabnam, though. Nicky's been really growing on me and every day I dislike Shabnam more

I think, if anything, this BB is filled with some of the most level-headed non-wannabe's of any series I've seen

Ziggy reckons he's very happy with his life the way it is and, while he would be happy to take whatever opportunities come his way, he'd be equally happy if nothing came of it.

Chanelle reckons people don't vote for housemates like her and doesn't expect to last further than week 4 or 5. She's planning to go back and finish her degree as soon as she gets out.

Emily entered with a bunch of friends and didn't even think about what she could get out of it until they told her she was selected. She's not interested in the kind of fame you get from BB, she's more looking forward to experiencing the tasks.

The twins don't want fame. They don't think of ex-BB people as celebrities anyway and are also planning to go straight back to Uni (or possibly take a year off depending on the timing of when they get out).

Laura wants to be the first Welsh winner but she's not looking for anything else. In fact she's worried about the fame side because she wants to still be able to do normal things like taking the kids on the bus etc.

I'm quite sure Lesley and Carole have little ambition either.

Charley and Shabnam strike me as being the most fame-hungry. Charley explicitly said as much and Shabnam just seems the type.

Not that there's anything wrong with being on BB for the fame or the opportunities that it might bring but, so far, I really don't see this series as being in any danger of reinforcing the wannabe, fame-hungry stereotype.

I like these snippets of insight, actually, they're the sort of thing you couldn't get from a non-housemate's report.

Nice to see Aisleyne's opinion converging on mine again

To be honest Chanelle could be a difficult one to judge. The magazines have a few things I wouldn't be impressed about it if true but I learnt years ago you can't trust the magazines. I prefer to make my judgements on what I see

Another fascinating little insight.

I wonder what Ash will make of the nominations - she'll be happy about Shabnam, but I she might be surprised about Emily.

Reveal's site seems to be getting a big traffic boost since Ash's blog started.

You'll need a slide rule, calculator and the brain of a rocket scientist to make sense of the numbers though

She wrote that quickly! I wonder if she had to ditch what she wrote originally (about last night's show). Anyway, I agree with her comments; Emily has been foolish rather than racist.

As usual, loads of commonsense from Aisleyne.

As she said in her Sky News interview last week "there is no room for mistakes like that". Prophetic words for Emily, as it's turned out.

I've tried to post this comment on C4BB as well, but the server seems to be in meltdown.

" It seems to me that her desperate attempts to look cool and fit in have backfired badly.

The term she blurted out may be used quite loosely in some rap tunes she's heard and I know it was only meant in a jokey way, but racially it's a loaded gun. She should have realised that this year's BB is having zero tolerance to this kind of thing "

I must admit that I was worried about what Ash would write about this , I've been trying to formulate a post on it and of course it's a mine-field , you don't want to condemn but then if you're too easy on Emily it looks like you're an apologist .

Anyway - Ash put it very well , really put her finger on the pertinent points without hysteria or self-righteousness .

It sounds to me like Emily was trying to sound hip in front of charley , she's heard black people use it in hip-hop style and so she's tried to sound like she's 'down with it' or whatever , but of course as Ash says - you've gotta be real careful with that stuff .

k

It's funny, I was watching Ziggy worrying about the age gap with Chanelle and whether he's doing the right thing and I started to think that maybe he's worried that Chanelle is going to start getting attracted to the younger newcomers and is trying to talk himself out of the relationship so that he won't get too hurt if she moves on to someone else. Just as I think this I read Aisleyne's blog to find her saying pretty much the same thing:

"I think Ziggy is feeling insecure. That's why he's protecting himself by saying Chanelle's too young for him."

It reminds me of last year. Just as I started to form an opinion Aisleyne used to echo my thoughts in the diary room

Very interesting.

I'm glad she didn't miss Chanelle's freudian slip.

Not sure I like Se as a nickname for Seany. It's on a par with Ais for Aisleyne.
Should we pronounce it See or Che or Shaw?

I noticed DSpy used "Se" in a news ticker headline - so maybe it's a known abbreviation in Irish circles (as opposed to Scottish ones ) and we know that Ash is proud of her Irish connection.

Blowed if I know how to pronounce it though - better "Ask Aisleyne" !

I haven't been watching much either. Mind you, before BB7 I didn't either. I've realised that basically I only followed BB7 because of Aisleyne, and it's only her various involvements (blog, TV etc) with BB8 that are keeping me remotely interested. It's kind of ironic that having spent months of us celebrating every indication that Ash was "moving on" from BB, and "Brand Aisleyne" has certainly done that, there's no doubt that BB8 has really given her profile a big boost.

I was always very suspicious of Seany but he came across well in his exit interview.

Aisleyne got a few things wrong this time round, though. Chanelle showered with Billi before they broke up, not after and Nicky had already won the battle for Liam's attentions over Charley even before she came back in with more makeup.

I'm sure it's hard to keep up, though. Particularly with this Glastonbury thing

I think they definitely jumped at the chance to keep Charley from being up but, that's their job - to make an entertaining show.

At the end of the day Charley wasn't saved by her breaking of the rules, Charley was saved because Billi broke the rules and because without Billi's vote only three other people had nominated her.

I don't think she'll be so lucky next week

and if they think charley makes entertainment then I have to disagree , she's a nightmare .

Was OK before. I'm sure the problem is on the Reveal site, not my link in the post.

They have added an archive with links to previous posts; these weren't working properly when I tried them so maybe they're having a bit of a fiddle to get them right. Maybe that's why the blog was a bit late appearing today also?

EDITED: Seems OK now, including the archive.

I also like her enthusiastic endorsement of Brian. Not influenced by anything she might have read on here yesterday, of course....

Of course not...

Thanks.

Some interesting little parallels there. The way she mentions again about Charley facing up to being nominated seems to underline how that experience had a major impact on Ash last year (when Suzie had that wise little peptalk with her and said "you thought everyone liked you, didn't you?" )

It's also quite funny the way she says why vote when you know someone's going back in - this from very the girl who was voted into into the BB7 House Next Door! Tut tut Aisleyne!

Well I suspect Aisleyne would've preferred nobody to have voted her into the house next-door! I didn't, as I knew there would be a catch, and I won't be voting this time either.

That was different though coz it was the HND....Ash was never going to be evicted and we all knew that.
This time they are going to be evicted, and then sent straight back in. So what is the point in voting? Its like last time when they were gonna send ex-housemates back into the house(which ended up being Nikki) after loads of people had voted to evict them. At least we know this time though!

Aisleynes blog is really good...cant wait for tomorrows.xxxx

It's the same as the HND vote in the sense that we KNOW we're voting for a fake eviction, which is at least better than the Nikki etc fiasco. And last year people clearly voted for Ash to be "HND'd" because they felt she would be more "interesting" in there than Susie.

I agree though that it's a hard call as to which of this year's two you'd wish this fate on. And it's still not clear to me just how much the other HMs are going to be made aware of. If it's Charley I hope they show them her talking in the caravan about how she is deliberately "nicer" at weekends pre-nomination!

Yeah i know, but this time they're gonna have contact with the outside. They'll see all the banners etc and the crowd, Ash didnt get that. I cant believe its been a year btw!! lmao. I think the fake eviction will be good, but i do think it will be more interesting if its Nicky. Charley says more things to peoples face anyway, but it will be funny for Charley to see Chanelles arse and nose comment!! lmao.

I tend to agree with Aisleyne most of the time and she's also been one of the few who've not been too down on Ziggy.

Still, if she'd seen the conversation I saw from Monday evening's live feed I think she'd be a bit more sympathetic about Chiggy. It was one of those seminal moments on live streaming where you think "if only the general public could have seen this they couldn't help but realize how wrong they've been."

There were certainly plenty of those last year for Aisleyne

There's still a chance they'll show some of it on the highlights tonight although it was a looong conversation

It was actually Carole who was stressing the whole 'snake' thing. Gerry jumped on board. I find it hard to believe that Nikky didnt' realize she was being mugged. She probably just chose to ignore it

Thanks - nice and early today!

With the 5-hour time diffference between UK and NY, that presumably meant that Aisleyne could watch the highlights late afternoon and do her blog before going clubbing. So I reckon that if access to Channel 4 isn't a problem, maybe blogging and clubbing are more compatible in NY than in the UK!!

It was a stupid argument but Chanelle didn't ask for it. It was a simple difference of opinion which Charley turned into a fight. I think Chanelle did pretty well at the end of the day and that apology afterwards was pure class.

I was a bit disappointed with Aisleyne's 'yawn' comment, to be honest. At the end of the day, despite what some might think, they aren't having the relationship for our entertainment so the fact that its ups and downs are not entertaining is not really a valid criticism. In any case, Ziggy has only called it off twice, not 50 times. They had a heart to heart in the caravan almost two weeks ago where Chanelle told him to make up his mind, which he did, and they've been rock solid ever since. To be honest, I'm not sure what prompted Aisleyne's comment on today's blog as they've been fine for ages now

Brief but, as usual, to-the-point.

Have to disagree about "best eviction ever" though. I take your point, Aisleyne, but NO other eviction will ever EVER match your triumphant exit from the BB house. THAT was one of the all-time "magic moments" of ANY kind of television, let alone BB.

I agree with her about Liam, he already has £100,000 so he should have offered to go inot the halfway house, rather han sit back. I do like Liam, not just coz he's gorgeous but because he seems genuine but he kinda proved me wrong last night.xxxx

Aisleynes deffo right about Amy!! Shes moving way to fast. Liam is really fit, so i dont blame her for wanting to get with him, but shes only known him for about 2 days, if that, she she should be careful, coz shes gonna make herself well unpopular.xxxx

Aisleyne has got Carole so wrong. Liam and Ziggy need to tell her to relax and not be such a control freak. She is suffocating the house. There would be so much more fun if she was not there.

Would I be right in thinking that because Ash is so busy at the moment she is relying mostly on the highlights and fringe shows , which have been benign to Carole and rather anti-Amy, whereas the strong anti-Carole feeling is most evident from LF addicts?

If so, it will be interesting to see how tonight's HL show treats chicken-gate and how Aisleyne reacts to it, especially as Kara and the twins don't appear in today's blog, but figure prominently in the cookery mutiny.

When reading Aisleyne's blogs, I think it helps to have an insight in how they are prepared.

Aisleyne gets additional info from reading news reports and via word of mouth - she does know people associated with the show (which is how she knew about the hidden bar, etc). However, essentially the blog is written from the highlights show.

Ash writes the blog as she watches the programme (note, for example, how her comments about Liam and Amy's relationship in today's blog reflect the sequence of events shown last night).  She doesn't write it retrospectively. So by the time the programme has ended, her blog is essentially finished.  Just requires tidying up, prior to emailing to Reveal.

Hope this helps.

I find I agree with Ash 90% of the time, although her pro Carole and Brian stance worries me somewhat. Obviously we can't expect Ash to watch the live feed 24/7 but she's perhaps a victim of the editing, same as we all are.

Always enjoy reading the blog!

Another factor to take into account of course is the enormous value Aisleyne places on her sense of loyalty. It's clear from her "past" that if she considers someone to be her friend, then it doesn't matter what other people think of that person, they remain her friend and she'll put herself on the line for them. She is definitely someone I'd always want on MY side in just about ANY situation.

My understanding of the highlight show was that Ziggy put a sock or something down there because he was embarrassed about showing the real thing through the lycra. I don't think he was playing with himself he was just adjusting the sock!

In the meantime, Chanelle has already set the record straight by saying that there's nothing wrong with the size of Ziggy's manhood

To be fair, I watch the live streaming and all the E4 shows but I don't disagree with Aisleyne about Carole. Carole is too controlling but she's well meaning all the same. She sees it her mission to look after the housemates in her charge and she gives unstintingly of herself to that end. For someone her age she's not averse to a bit of fun either. There are some aspects of Carole that I'm not fond of but, on the whole, I think she's an amazing woman.

Can't agree with Ash today - Brian's child like perving is quite gross IMO and I thought showing the newbies the nommos was cruel rather than "brilliant", I remember how hurt Ash was when she was nominated last year.

Love reading the blog and what Ash thinks, but I think she's got it wrong today.

I know what you mean bengos but Aisleyne was really hurt coz they were supposed to be her friends. She had lived with them all for a few weeks and then was nominated, which is bound to hurt more. The new housemates have only been there for a week and i think everyone knew that they would be up for eviction. Amy and Jonty took it well but Kara took it to heart.xxxx

I was surprised Aisleyne took that view of Kara's crying. Given that Aisleyne spent so much time crying about nominations and about how people apparently disliked her last year I would have thought she'd be more understanding

Very true Becki!

I don't agree with Ash today, I think there's something very creepy about Brian, and I think it's Amanda who people should be looking out for in all this. Even his Mum says he's playing a game lol.

I do like the fact that Ash is supporting him for the right reasons though, even though I think she's got him a bit wrong lol.

More in-depth from Ash today. She made some good points, and i'm liking a bit of support for the twins, but I still don't get the Brian and Carole support.

Always good to read tho

What a fab blog by Aisleyne I do agree that if Carol is evicted, it will do her good coz she's proper senestive at the moment. When she first came in she was full of life and really happy, but now she always seems to be sad and i think she needs to go. She annoyed me last night. I do feel sorry for her in a way but its best if she gets evicted coz shes getting annoying now.xxxx

Yay I agree with AAsh 100% today!! That's a first for a couple of weeks. I think Kara and Carole will be the two with the most votes, but I reckon the gurus will evict Kara.

I agree Becki, it's not all her fault as she's cracking up, but she needs to go.

I've been catching up with the blogs today as I was away last week. They are well written, interesting and succinct. I've been able to keep up with the main events of BB8 without watching a minute of it. I like the way she championed the older, less conventional housemate, but her loyalty to Carole is now wearing away. It seems to me a balanced appraisal of events in the house. I hope to see Aisleyne using her talents in similar projects when BB is not on.

In my view one of Aisleyne's best blogs yet, not least because it's SO... well... "Aisleyne-ish"

Her identification with Tracey's feelings of betrayal are so reminiscent of her pre-HND week last year (ie Susie's "you thought everybody liked you" pep-talk), as well the "tough exterior" comment.

PLUS she can't quite bring herself to a decision on who she wants to see evicted this week - ah the agonies of nomination, eh, Ash?!

(I'll even forgive the misplaced apostrophe in "boy's " - as it's about Liam AND Ziggy it should be "boys' " - but then nobody under 40 seems to know/care about proper use of apostrophes these days anyway! )

Yeah i agree with Ash too and I also agree with Becki that Tracey and Kara Louise will go this week. It's a bit unfair that the housemates keep putting up the new people to benefit them so that can stay in the house a bit longer

Yeah, it was a good blog. I suspect you can blame Reveal for the grammatical errors :D

Tracey is definitely going. I like both Kara and Jonty but I'd marginally prefer Kara to stay. I suspect it will be Jonty though.

Don't be silly, you know they're not allowed to write letters to the outside world while they're in Big Brother. Next you'll be telling me that all those "Celeb drama of the fortnight" letters from Sienna Miller, Kate Middleton etc. aren't real!

I've always liked Ziggy. I don't think he's smug I think he's spent far too much time worrying about what a mug he's been to be smug

My top three would be the twins, then Ziggy, then Brian.

It was a great blog today. I was watching the highlights yesterday thinking Carole was being out of order bigging up Sam at Amanda's expense and then I was thinking that Amanda showed a lot of strength of character in not being afraid to tell Carole what she thought about it. Then Aisleyne's blog says exactly what I was thinking

While I haven't agreed with every comment on every blog I have to say that I've agreed with far more things in Aisleyne's blogs than any other commentator - and I've read quite a few different people's blogs this year

Hey Ash, I enjoy reading your blog on BB8. I'm supporting the twins to win, they've been great. I definitely agree with you. However, Ash was the best housemate in the history of Big brother, she is a wonderful person. I voted for Ash loads (so many times that I lost count, it must have been at least 30 times ) Great to see you doing so well Ash, keep up the good work.

I'll keep voting for the twins to win, I think they're lovely girls but to be honest, you were something unique and amazing, one in a billion !!

Hope Ash is well. Very pleased to have joined here now.

Thanks! Another good blog entry. However, I'd have to disagree slightly with her comment that it would be unfair if Jonty won. There's nothing wrong with latecomers winning, and it would've been nice if a certain female latecomer won last year!

I never watched or voted any BB8 because of last year. I just watched Ash on BBBM.

Thanks for the link.

I feel a bit for Ash with that final blog, remembering what she said on Choice about Brian being a bit fake (and lets be honest we all agree) but still having to write a glowing tribute.

I'll miss reading Ash's blogs, they were the only decent thing in BB8!

The only thing I'll miss about BB8 is Aisleyne's blog!

If it's any consolation (it isn't to me) but the new blog is on X-factor and will be by Shayne Ward; I hope that means that Ash's blog was seen as a success, and they're hoping to continue in the same vein.

The editor's article introducing this new blog makes a nice comment about "the lovely Aisleyne". He also refers to "the lovely Shayne" which I'm less inclined to agree about.

BTW - Shayne's blog is only a weekly one - he's got it easy compared to Aisleyne.

Thanks! I hope that once a week slacker gets paid one-fith of what Aisleyne got.
