About the FAKERS

The FAKERS are an Aisleyne Appreciation Society that was initiated by her fans on the official Channel 4 (Eve Community) Forums during Big Brother 7.

The word FAKERS stands for "Fans of Aisleyne Keeping 'Er Real Society" and was chosen because of the constant accusations made at that time by her detractors that Ash was in some way "false".

By the end of Big Brother 7, the FAKERS were the largest appreciation society on the Channel 4 BIG BROTHER boards with 1100 members, although it has to be said that the Richard Appreciation Society (RAS) gave them a run for their money right up until the last week.

The only thing that unites the FAKERS is their appreciation of Aisleyne. Although the majority of FAKERS would probably have liked Aisleyne to win, a good many were also rooting for other housemates.

The Aisleyne Board on the Channel 4 BIG BROTHER Housemates Forum was by far the busiest during BIG BROTHER7, hosting twice as many topic threads as its nearest rival (Pete), partly because it was shared by a very active "Get Aisleyne Out Campaign".

It is for others to decide whether the FAKERS won the battle that raged on the Channel 4 BIG BROTHER boards. However, the effort that the FAKERS put into explaining their reasons for supporting Aisleyne and defending her was unsurpassed. One memorable thread lasted for days and contained dozens of long posts extolling her virtues and acknowledging her weaknesses, solely for the purposes of persuading an, as yet, undecided forum member to support Aisleyne (a campaign that was ultimately successful).

The FAKERS forum came about due to the constant harassment fans of Aisleyne were receiving on the C4 Big Brother forum. The C4 forum was awash with posts every day decrying FAKERS and Aisleyne. In an attempt to find a place where FAKERS could relax and remove themselves from this constant harassment, Dogtired opened up a forum for FAKERS.

On the 23rd August 2006 the FAKERS forum was opened - http://fakersforais.proboards86.com/. The original staff members were Dogtired, Remaha, Silenthill and Bluebellberries, all very active Aisleyne supporters on the C4 Big Brother forum. Posts were moved from the C4 forums onto the FAKERS forum to maintain some of the great posts made by fans of Aisleyne. These and many other great posts can still be seen on the forum.

The FAKERS forum is diverse in content; although primarily an Aisleyne fan site it catered for the diverse interests of the members, and was probably responsible for its success. Not long after the forum got off the ground a website was developed - www.ashaleeen.co.uk. This complemented the forum and was updated with news and articles of interest to Aisleyne fans. As with the forum, all members were invited to submit articles for the website. Over time many people joined the FAKERS forum, even those who had not been posting on the C4 forums.

In June 2007, Aisleyne asked the FAKERS to become more involved and consider merging with her official website. After senior members were consulted, the offer was accepted and the FAKERS became part of Aisleyne's official website on the 27th June 2007.
